I'm in the Van Slam Semi-Finals. Last Chance Slam happened at the cafe last night. That's for poets who have not qualified but are still trying. I almost didn't make it to the second round, but one of the poets dropped out. Then I came in second overall. I made it to the semis by good luck and the narrowest margin.
I wanted so much to make it. I was all sweaty and agitated, but I found my focus when it was my turn to perform. I would have been okay if I hadn't qualified, but I'm glad I did. I am lucky.
