Wet

This is old, but appropriate for today:

when sky pounds down
to drown the ground
umbrellas
gripped, ripped stripped by lashing gales
leave spider skeletons
over leaf-clogged drains
boots are buckets, shoes sponges
you must choose your course
to press on against rain's slanting wall
curl tight and wait for dry
or peel free from damp layers
leave boots and bags behind
and dance naked in liquid glory
absorbing the power of the storm

question: which course?
